Please include: your Android version, phone model, and the rename rule you were trying to apply. If a rename failed, also note where the target files were stored (Pictures, Downloads, an SD card, etc.).
Common issues
The Apply button shows “grant All files access”
Android 11+ requires the MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission
for an app to rename files outside its own sandbox. Tap Settings, grant
All files access for Bulk Rename, then return to the app.
A file says “collision” in the preview
The target name is already in use by another file in the same folder. The engine refuses to overwrite, so you’ll need to adjust the rule (for example, raise the sequence start, or change the prefix) until the diff shows no collisions.
Some files are dimmed and unchanged in the diff
A rule that doesn’t affect a particular filename leaves it unchanged. The engine only renames files that produce a different output, so you can run the same rule repeatedly without surprise side effects.
